Clearing a New Path™ and Clearing a New Path Podcast™ are products of Radar Media, located in Dorchester, Ontario on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Neutral peoples who once used this land as their traditional beaver hunting grounds. As a settler here I’m committed to deepening understanding of Indigenous communities and reframing responsibilities to land and community.I am grateful to Mother Earth for the opportunity for love and connection and to the spirits of the Elders and the Medicine People who still walk the Earth.

WILL 2023 BRING CLEAN AND RESILIENT GROWTH FOR RURAL CANADA?
Hello Amazing Humans,This week's episode is the first of what I hope will be many conversations with the folks at PLACE Centre, which is a new initiative of the Smart Prosperity Institute (SPI).
My guest is John McNally the Program Director for the Growth program at PLACE where he leads a team of researchers and communicators focused on clean growth policy. John has previously worked as an advisor, researcher, and policymaker on a number of issues including: federal climate policies, corporate sustainability initiatives, and advancing clean growth in Canadian resource sectors.
We talk specifically about rural Canada, its growth challenges, opportunities and solutions and John gives what we’re calling some predictions/suggestions for rural Canada in 2023 and beyond.
PLACE Centre identifies and advances regionally-focused policy solutions that contribute to Smart Prosperity Institute’s vision and mission.
The Smart Prosperity Institute is a national research network and policy think tank based at the University of Ottawa. It delivers world-class research and works with public and private partners – all to advance practical policies and market solutions for a stronger, cleaner economy.
SECOND SEASON FIRST QUARTER REPORT
Thanks to so many of you that have supported my efforts this year! It’s been just one year since I started sending out this newsletter. The list grew from 250 to 950 in the summer!
The first quarter of the second season is coming to a close with the end of the year. I thought I’d share some of the results with all of you and some of what is planned for 2023.

This is the last episode of 2022 and I want to say it’s been a pleasure putting together the episodes, sharing the conversations with you and preparing the newsletter. Thank you for continuing to trust me with your stories and if I haven’t been able to pursue your concern yet, please send me another email or leave me a voice message. It is an honour to serve rural Canadians in this way.However, there have been some really challenging days this year and I can’t sugarcoat that (I’ll speak more about that in a future blog post) but there have been some joyous ones as well. It is my absolute passion to bring attention and justice to rural Canadian issues and I am grateful to have the privilege to do that. I continue to evolve the podcast and newsletter to better serve specifically underrepresented voices and I appreciate your input so much!
