Clearing a New Path™ and Clearing a New Path Podcast™ are products of Radar Media, located in Dorchester, Ontario on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenoshownee and Neutral peoples who once used this land as their traditional beaver hunting grounds.  As a settler here I’m committed to deepening understanding of Indigenous communities and reframing responsibilities to land and community. I am grateful to Mother Earth for the opportunity for love and connection and to the spirits of the Elders and the Medicine People who still walk the Earth.

Can I still say Happy New Year? Ah well, I just did!

• Something else to celebrate, as of January 7 of this year, conversion therapy is officially illegal in Canada! An interesting article in the Canadian Medical Association Journal

• I saw this cool story on the CBC website in their new Being Black in Canada section - How 2 students uncovered Antigonish's long forgotten Black housing co-operative. If you have some questions and/or thoughts on co-operatives, there's a podcast episode called What is a Co-op with Heather Hallgrimson of Co-operatives First

• You can now partner with a student or student organization to work on projects that advance rural and remote communities and/or organizations.The Rural Development Network (RDN) has partnered with post-secondary institutions for work integrated learning (WIL) opportunities. More info and sign up

• There was a healthy debate on TVO's Agenda with Steve Paikin about Rural Revitalization in early December last year. Basically, wealthy retirees moving into smaller towns and reworking existing infrastructure into new uses. One of my favourite guests, Ashleigh Weeden was a firecracker as always, making thoughtful points and asking important questions. I'd love to hear your opinion on it.
