[Re-sent] March 1, 2022 Newsletter

The only news you'll need this week 🎯

Clearing a New Pathâ„¢ and Clearing a New Path Podcastâ„¢ are products of Radar Media, located in Dorchester, Ontario on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Neutral peoples who once used this land as their traditional beaver hunting grounds.  As a settler here I’m committed to deepening understanding of Indigenous communities and reframing responsibilities to land and community. I am grateful to Mother Earth for the opportunity for love and connection and to the spirits of the Elders and the Medicine People who still walk the Earth.

MARCH 1, 2022

I have a theory about why we're seeing so much polarization, especially in our rural communities. I'm calling it "Information Poverty" and you can read more about that here.

  • You like to hear and read stories about other rural women entrepreneurs in Canada.

  • You want quick hit stories with links to the longer versions and you would appreciate some long-form deep dive journalism on rural issues.

  • Rural focus is missing from the places you typically consume news which include: CBC, Twitter, Reddit, New York Times, BBC, The Globe and Mail, The Localist and some local radio stations

If you would like to provide input, please do so and if you know a great speaker (including yourself), please hit reply to this email or connect with me through [email protected].

The Women's Enterprise Organizations of Canada is still looking for your input in their national survey. This is the last push before the deadline so if you haven't filled it out, now's the time.

PODCAST EPISODE LIVE ON WEDNESDAY MORNING!

The Women's Enterprise Associations of Canada (WEOC) is looking for your input, if you are a female-identifying or non-binary entrepreneur in Canada. WEOC is gathering critical information to implement new strategies focused in this group.

International Women's Day (IWD) is coming up next week (March 8) and many of your local rural business organizations may be hosting events. The theme this year is

I want to ask you though

, how many of those organizations have BIWOC (Black Indigenous Women of Colour) on the panels or marginalized women speaking?

but these women

shouldn't only be asked to speak on March 8 to tick a box.

And speaking of IWD,

Vicki Saunders, the CEO of SheO

How do you plan to mark the day?

5.

Tiana Byrnes follows Seven Sacred Grandfather Teachings to guide her business.

Byrnes worked as a waitress, became a PSW, then a nurse. Then she and her husband started a business, all while raising four boys.
